Mike Libecki
First Ascent Junkie. Global Explorer. Reality Bender.
Mike Libecki defines himself in two ways: an explorer obsessed with climbing the world's most remote and untouched mountains, knocking off several first ascents every year, and a dedicated father of an equally adventurous daughter who wants to save the world. National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, Dell Ambassador, and Adidas Athlete, Mike has completed more than 85 major global expeditions with the personal goal of 100. He has summited from Afghanistan to Antarctica, Greenland to Guyana, Siberia to Socotra Island to Yemen and everywhere in between, paddling with polar bears and climbing the highest peak of Antarctica on his “joyineering” expeditions.
Mike produces, directs, and films his expeditions using the latest technologies to bring his stories to life using next-level VR headsets and technology that transport audiences to the far-flung corners of the globe. He has trekked with his daughter Lilliana to all 7 continents, including Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, the peaks of Nepal and Peru, polar bear territory in the high Arctic, and the bottom of the Earth, where they skied alongside penguins. This exposure to our broad world has kindled in Lilli a keen focus and commitment to humanitarian and conservation work.
According to Mike: "The time is now. Why ration passion? Dream big and climb those dreams."
Paddling with Polar Bears: Exploring Earth’s Hidden Edens
Join Nat Geo Explorer/Dell Ambassador Mike Libecki as he takes us on a journey to some of the most remote expeditions imaginable, from the Greenland Arctic to the deepest jungles on the planet. His journey started in Yosemite National Park, where he learned to climb, and it fueled an unending passion to make 100 first ascents around the globe. Sometimes solo, sometimes with teams from National Geographic, Mike skied in Katabatic winds in Antarctica, and battled rain, mud and mayhem to climb, hand-over-fist, the most difficult and deadly peak in French Polynesia—3,264-ft Poumaka—the expedition nicknamed “Jungle Mayhem.” On each expedition, Mike pushes the envelope to capture his amazing adventures with the latest technology used in the field, from 8K footage to Virtual Reality 3D. Mike’s infectious drive to make the most of every day offers audiences a unique perspective on the magic, power and beauty of our planet and the commonalities that the people he meets share in relation to life, business, humor, family, and wonder.
Also available as a Father/Daughter Duo, sharing their global give-back humanitarian expeditions to improve technology, energy and education in remote communities.
